Collar types

Most of our collars are what we like to call 'clippy collars', standard collars with side release buckles. These are available in all 5 of our available widths. The clips are approximately 10mm wider than the webbing they're used with. For example, a 20mm wide collar will have a 30mm wide plastic clip.

10mm wide collars come in two styles, for either cats or dogs. Cat collars have safety breakaway clips, and also a split ring and bell. These collars are NOT suitable for use with a lead. Dog collars have normal side release clips and a welded D ring, suitable for use with a lead.

40mm wide collars are also available in a martingale/slip style collar. These collars are placed over the head, before being adjusted to fit. They are commonly used for breeds whose heads are smaller than their necks, as they can offer extra security, as well as spreading collar pressure over a wider surface.

Materials we use

Our designs are printed on to polyester ribbon, with inks that are 100% waterproof, so you can rest assured that your collars and leads can be washed as often as needed. See care instructions below for information on washing.

All our webbing colours (except two) are polypropylene. The fluorescent yellow and 10mm baby pink are a polyester webbing. 10mm, 15mm and 40mm webbings are a standard flat webbing. 20mm and 25mm webbings are a thicker 'cushioned' webbing, which have a softer feel to them. All our leads are made using the 'cushioned' webbing for comfort.

The metal hardware we use is all cast or welded, and designed specifically for use with animals.

Our plastic clips, again, are designed for use on animal collars/leads.

Scratch protection

All of our collars are printed in-house, by hand, via a rather long-winded process! The last thing we want is them to be damaged and ruin all that hard work. We've developed a method of creating a scratch-proof coating on the back of our ribbons, which hold the fibres firmly in place. This has been tried and tested for several years with great success. However, claws and other sharp objects can still damage collars and leads, especially teeth! If your pet will excessively scratch at its collar, or chew on a collar or lead, please consider removing the item/s when they are not supervised.

Caring for your collars and leads

We pride ourselves on making tough and durable items! However, they can still be damaged by bleaching agents and prolonged UV exposure. Items should be stored away from direct sunlight, to avoid colours fading. When washing your collars and leads, it's a good idea to place them inside a bag or pillowcase, to avoid metal hardware damaging your machine or other garments. Please wash them on a gentle cycle with a non-bleaching detergent, and dry away from direct heat and out of direct sunlight.
